Know where your reading goes.
Arcana Guide works without an Arcana account. This page describes the app's browser storage and the external services involved when you use its features.

Saved in your browser
Arcana stores saved readings, journal notes, settings, usage counters, and Premium activation in your browser's local storage. It does not have an Arcana account database that syncs your journal across devices.
Clearing site data, using a private browsing session, or changing browsers can make that archive unavailable. Export a journal backup and keep it somewhere you control. Backups contain private reading and journal content; share them only when you choose.
Photos and AI requests
When you request AI card identification, interpretation, or a reading comparison, the relevant photo, cards, spread positions, question, optional context, or selected reading text is sent to the selected AI service.
Hosted AI sends requests through Arcana's Cloudflare Worker to Google Gemini. If you add your own Gemini API key in Settings, requests go directly from your browser to Google. That optional key is stored in this browser until you remove it.
Classic readings use built-in meanings and do not make an AI request. Manual card entry lets you use a classic reading without uploading a photo. AI identification can make mistakes, so review the cards before continuing.
Google and Cloudflare process requests under their own policies. See Gemini API terms and Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Payments and Premium activation
Gumroad handles checkout and provides your activation key. Arcana's activation service verifies that key and may retain license and entitlement records to support Premium activation. The browser saves your verified activation status.
See Gumroad's privacy policy for its handling of purchase information.
Hosting and external images
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. The app loads some card artwork from Wikimedia Commons. These services can receive standard connection information, such as an IP address and the requested resource, when your browser contacts them.
See GitHub's privacy statement and Wikimedia's privacy policy.
Your choices
Use classic readings when you do not want to send a reading to an AI service. Remove an optional Gemini key in Settings when you no longer want it saved. Export your journal before clearing site data, and use the available archive controls to manage saved entries.
An AI assistant's separate browser does not automatically have your Arcana archive. Sharing a backup or reading with another service is your choice and gives that service access to the information you share.
A quiet moment with your own cards.
